ECAJET and Catherine Whitehouse Grow Service Offerings Through ECA MarketPlace

Joneser’s Express Transportation’s (JET) Catherine Whitehouse says her company’s business model stresses adding value to their customers’ operations. In her role as Business Development Manager for JET, an ECA, A Delivery Industry Alliance member for 9 years, Catherine and JET are adamant that added value is a must in their business relationships. “We strive to maintain the highest level of customer service while maintaining integrity and ethical business practices. At JET, our customers come second only to safety,” she said. Additionally, Catherine says, “customer support, essential resources, partnerships, and the latest technology round out our value proposition.”

Developing Shipper-Carrier Relationships to Drive Growth

Catherine does her part to drive JET’s growth by building and maintaining solid relationships with existing and potential customers. “We are identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the Northeast region whose needs match our strengths. To find and expand our company’s client base, I use various tools and organizations.

The ECA MarketPlace, which expertly matches shippers and carriers based on specific needs and services that align and complement each other, is a must-attend tradeshow for us.”

Catherine reports that past ECA MarketPlace events have not only produced long-lasting business partnerships, contacts, and friends; they have also “brought us learning experiences that have been instrumental to growing our business.”

Catherine began her logistics career as a courier, and she advanced through various operations and sales roles with a major player in the overnight airfreight segment. “Through the different roles I gained a deep understanding of many aspects of the industry,” she said. She adds that “all the while maintaining a household and raising four children while advancing my career has been both my biggest challenge and accomplishment.”

Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren keep her young and active. “I am passionate about spending quality time with my family on vacations, playing golf, hiking, and cooking. These activities bring joy and balance to my life.”

Service Excellence for Client Success

Being of service to others is a strong characteristic in Catherine and JET. “Being of service to our customers, other carriers, and teammates involves a combination of proactive support, effective communication, and a commitment to excellence,” she said. “With customers, I listen to their needs and offer solutions to provide the best reliable service while maintaining timely communications to avoid any disconnect. I regularly ask for feedback to pass along to operations and drivers.”

Within the ECA community, Catherine strives to foster collaboration based on mutual respect and shared goals with her fellow carrier members. “Networking, sharing insights and resources where we can is one of the benefits of ECA membership,” she said. “We develop trust by providing the services we promised and communicating openly.” Catherine says that JET experiences the same from fellow ECA carriers.

At JET Catherine encourages teamwork, knowledge sharing, and recognition of hard work and contributions. “Staying positive and supportive while fully understanding teammates’ daily challenges in carrying out their functions is critical to keeping a motivated team,” Catherine said.

Why Shippers Attend ECA MarketPlace

Catherine was asked her opinion why shippers should attend the ECA MarketPlace. “In my opinion, there is nothing like the ECA MarketPlace,” she answered.

This all-inclusive, cost-effective event offers shippers the opportunity to participate in what the ECA calls the ’48 in 48’ - tailored meetings with carriers they choose to meet with over the two days of the event. They can also showcase their business, network, and learn from their peers—all under one roof.”

An added benefit of ECA MarketPlace is the eager presence of exhibitors who provide services and products to the logistics industry. “I’ve met some incredible vendors at the ECA who are specifically tailored to help carriers in all aspects of our operations. They take the time to explain what they can offer, ensuring we are aware of all the resources available to us when we need them,” she said.

The 2025 ECA MarketPlace will be held at the Peppermill Resort in Reno, Nevada on April 28-30. Catherine’s and JET’s goals for the show?

Goals for ECA MarketPlace

“We have decided to achieve several key objectives,” Catherine said.

  • Engage with potential clients and partners to explore new business opportunities and expand JET’s client base.
  • Build and reinforce relationships with existing partners, ensuring long-term collaboration and mutual growth.
  • Attract shippers with specific needs, highlight JET’s specialized services, such as white-glove for retail and pharmaceuticals, as well as hot shot, expedited, same-day pick-up and delivery service.
  • Connect with industry leaders and peers to share insights and best practices and stay updated on the latest trends in transportation and logistics.
  • Take advantage of the educational sessions and resources available at the event to enhance JET’s operations and services.

Building new relationships. Strengthening current relationships. Local, regional, and niche carriers who are ready to help shippers service their customers. “48 in 48.” Best practices, sharing insights. Knowledge gained. Joneser’s Express Transportation – JET – and Catherine Whitehouse get it. That’s what the ECA, A Delivery Industry Alliance’s 2025 MarketPlace, Peppermill Resort, Reno, Nevada, April 28th– 30th is all about.
